The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8, seeks an InterimLower School Dean for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture, the Interim Lower School Dean has primary oversight for the student and family experience in Grades Pre-K-5. This is an interim position with the search for a permanent Lower School Dean beginning in late Fall 2026.

Rashi’s Lower School uses a collaborative teaching model to promote students’ academic, social, and emotional growth by nurturing an environment that promotes risk taking, flexibility, adaptability, empathy, and resilience through collaborative teaching which models behaviors of the adults. We seek to employ faculty and staff with diverse backgrounds who model these traits and our core values for our students and are eager to support Rashi in fulfilling its mission.
Position Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a positive, safe, supportive environment for all students by developing strong relationships with students, families, and teachers
Be a strong, proactive, and positive presence in lower school classrooms and community times
Proactively communicate with all families individually on a regular basis
Convene topical grade level family forums twice a year for each grade level
Oversee Social Emotional Learning curriculum and programming
Participate in the admissions process
Support teachers in Grades Pre-K-5 with management of Tier I behaviors, including communication with families
Manage Tier II and Tier III behavioral infractions, including communication with families
Meet with families in Grades Pre-K-5 to address concerns that have already been brought to the classroom teachers
Monitor attrition risks and engage families to support positive relationships between school and home
Attend student meetings
Review progress reports

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
5 to 7 years experience teaching in an elementary school setting.
Restorative Justice training preferred.

Able to lift 10-15 lbs.
