High Point Academy is seeking an experienced Business Manager to join our team! This is a full time, 12-month exempt position, reporting to the CFO. The position is available now. Employer will work with suitable candidate for start date.
The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions including payables and payroll. He/she is the lead for the school’s annual financial audit and Worker’s Compensation audit. The position supports the CFO in the business office and handles the following job responsibilities along with special projects as assigned:
Process weekly A/P checks.
Track and record prepaid invoices.
Maintains fixed asset schedules, capitalizing acquisitions, recording depreciation and disposals. Prepares and posts quarterly depreciation journal entries
Quarterly Fundraising reconciliation with Development Office and Quickbooks
Audit, Tax and Compliance
Lead financial audit; prepare appropriate schedules as assigned by auditors and/or CFO
Preparation of work papers for 990 tax return
Prepare 571L property tax exemption paperwork
Lead Worker’s Comp audit
Submit and follow up on workers’ compensation claims
Send annual employee contracts via Docu-sign
Prepare new hire employee packets and documentation follow up
Check livescan fingerprinting results of new hires
Prepare annual applications for property and liability insurance renewal
Monitor timesheets via T-sheets and process semi-monthly payroll. Post payroll journal entries to general ledger
Update benefit and salary information as needed into ADP system
Track stipend and substitute costs
Comply with EDD and state mandated garnishment requests
Issue and record manual checks
Verify payroll reports; post to GL
Distribute hard copy year-end W2’s from ADP. Prepare 1099s and 1096 filing form for independent contractors
Review year end and quarterly tax reports
Data collection and input of annual surveys with feedback from administrative team, for CAL-ISBOA and DASL.

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business related experience, preferably in independent schools. Position requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Proficient MS Excel skills and Quickbooks required.
ADP Workforce experience preferred
Must possess ability to multitask, attend to detail, organize work effectively, meet deadlines, and report status of work in a regular manner
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Positive and cooperative attitude is a must
