Vice President for Advancement
Marian Catholic High School invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Vice President for Advancement. The Vice President for Advancement reports to the President and is part of the executive leadership of the school. The ideal candidate will bring an outside-of-the-box approach and use creative fundraising and marketing methods to secure new resources for the school.
The Vice President for Advancement is hired by and reports to the President. This position is responsible for financial development, marketing and communications, alumni relations, parent volunteers, and grant writing. With the President, the Vice President for Advancement determines the financial initiatives necessary to sustain the mission of Marian Catholic.
The Vice President is a member of the school’s Executive Council along with the Principal and the Chief Financial Officer, and serves as a resource for the President in all matters under his/her jurisdiction.
The Vice President serves at the call of the Board of Directors and attends meetings as needed.
The Vice President is responsible for the effective operation of the Office for Advancement, providing oversight and evaluation of the office and personnel.
The Vice President for Advancement oversees the planning and execution of the capital development programs, and in this capacity will:
Evaluate, facilitate, and execute a capital campaign and minor capital initiatives in cooperation with the President and Board of Directors
Develop and maintain ongoing professional relationships with gift prospects and benefactors
Ensure that donors and prospective donors are informed about the mission, needs, and investment opportunities at Marian Catholic High School
Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit gift prospects. With the President, he/she is responsible for strategically shepherding prospective benefactors through the gift process, inviting the investment or gift, closing the solicitation, thanking, recognizing, and reporting gifts on a timely basis
Serve as a liaison to various community organizations
Undertake external and internal involvement which will enhance his/her effectiveness in marketing and communications activities
Develop professional competencies through regular study and participation in professional conferences and workshops
As an executive officer, the Vice President for Advancement provides leadership and oversight of Advancement Office personnel and programs:
Strategic Fund Development: Formulate, delegate, and oversee a comprehensive fundraising program designed to generate financial support from faculty, alumni, parents, alumni parents, friends, corporations, and foundations which will include:
The Marian Annual Fund:4Marian Day of Giving, direct mail, all-school raffle, matching gifts, auxiliary groups (band parents, Parents Club), and other fund?raising efforts
Endowment Fund: Identify and implement action plans to grow the existing funds and establish new endowed funds
Major gifts in support of annual and capital initiatives
Memorial giving, gifts "in kind", and planned giving
Donor Cultivation: Identify, educate, and involve new benefactors and continually cultivate new and current donors
Oversee special events: Endowment Golf Classic, Spartan Gold Raffle, Veritas Gala & Pillar Awards, and other events which realize good will and achieve targeted fundraising goals
Along with the Director of Marketing & Communications, ensure Marian Catholic's philosophy, values, goals, and achievements are communicated to the total community
Oversee and protect a unified brand message through effective publications (Marian Matters, Annual Report), public communications (press, media relations, yard signs), and social media
Ensure that the history of Marian Catholic is preserved
Assist the President and Executive Council to deliver a unified public message
Assist staff in developing and administering annual budgets for alumni relations, advancement, marketing/communication, grants, and multimedia production
Oversee, advise, and manage: Alumni relations, advancement, marketing and communications, the donor and alumni database, multimedia production, grant writing, parent volunteers, the archive, and all Advancement support staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the President
The Vice President for Advancement will have a commitment to the mission of Catholic education, hold a degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a business/sales, entrepreneurial background, with at least five years’ experience in general advancement best practices. A master’s degree in business or a related field is preferred. He/she will present a documented career of securing major investors and gifts along with a demonstrated record of facilitating the acquisition of major investors and funds.
