Position Overview: The School Business Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for the financial and operational management of the District. This role ensures that all fiscal, business, and support functions operate efficiently, comply with State and Federal requirements, and align with the District’s mission. The Business Manager works closely with the Superintendent, Board of Education, and administrative team to provide strategic financial guidance, long-term planning, and operational oversight. This position falls within the Managerial/Confidential classification.
* New York State certification as a School Business Official (SDA, SBA, or SBO), or eligibility under Civil Service qualifications. * Note regarding SDA, SBA, or SBO certification: New York State Certification as a School Business Official would put this position in the unclassified service. * Civil Service Qualifications: * Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in business administration, business management, accounting, economics, finance, or closely related field; Or * Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, business management, accounting, economics, finance, or closely related field, and one (1) year of full-time paid supervisory experience in maintaining financial accounts and business records; Or * Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in business administration, business management, accounting, economics, finance, or closely related field, and three (3) years of full-time paid experience in maintaining financial accounts and business records, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. * Experience in school finance, budgeting, accounting, and personnel supervision. * Knowledge of public school law, State Education Department regulations, and municipal finance. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, Board members, and community stakeholders.
