Salary: The Country School’s salary range for this full-time position is from $48,000 to $62,000 and is based on factors such as years of experience, qualifications, full-time status, and schedule. If selected for the role, your salary will be determined by your experience and qualifications.

Tuition Remission: Under current policy, employees who are employed at TCS full-time are eligible to receive tuition remission for their children who attend our school. The first child receives 50% tuition remission and the second child receives 25% tuition remission. Employee children must meet the same standards for admission as all other applicants. Employees may apply for financial assistance through our need-based tuition assistance program.
Required Education:

The Country School is seeking an experienced teacher with a strong science background and a demonstrated commitment to working with lower school students. This full-time position includes teaching Pre-K through 4th grade students. The Country School is located in Easton, MD, and serves students in grades PreK through 8th grade with a total enrollment of over 320 students. The Lower School serves 187 students in grades Pre-K - 4th. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be a full participant in the life of the Lower School.
The Lower School Science Teacher inspires curiosity and cultivates a love of discovery through hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences. This teacher designs and implements a dynamic curriculum where each unit begins with a guiding question that connects scientific concepts to students’ everyday lives. The ideal candidate will engage students in open-ended investigations, purposeful engineering projects, and real-world problem-solving that extend beyond the classroom—into courtyards, gardens, and the broader community. Lessons emphasize 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication, while encouraging best practices in scientific exploration. Our Lower School Science program builds a strong foundation for success in Upper School and nurtures a lifelong passion for learning about the world through observation, experimentation, and wonder.

Responsibilities & Duties
Teach 22 forty-minute science classes per week to students in Pre-K through Grade 4.
Prepare engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons, including setup and execution of hands-on experiments, labs, and engineering projects.
Maintain, organize, and replenish materials and equipment in both the science classroom and the attached prep and storage areas.
Ensure proper cleanup and safety procedures following all lab and classroom activities.
Collaborate with Lower School faculty to support interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning experiences.
Participate fully in the life of the school community, including assigned duties such as lunch and recess supervision, faculty meetings, and school events.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School.
Qualifications & Skills:
Orientation to progressive philosophy and teaching methods
Formal training in science (B.A./B.S. minimum; M.A. preferred)
Teaching experience at the lower school level (3+ years preferred)
Commitment to working with children and to teaching in the lower school
Knowledge of science pedagogy and curriculum
Interest in curriculum development, assessment, and differentiated instruction
Computer literacy and experience in integrating technology
Personal skills needed to work collaboratively with other faculty and to facilitate cross-curricular projects.
