Watkinson School, an independent day school serving students in grades 6-PG, offering inventive teaching to Hartford and surrounding communities since 1881, seeks a full-time Director of SPHERE & Co-Coordinator of Community, Equity, and Inclusion. This position performs a variety of critical duties, including but not limited to:
SPHERE Director
Year-round direction and oversight of all aspects of the summer SPHERE program at Watkinson School, including recruiting and hiring staff, budgetary development and management, and managing outreach, enrollment, and family engagement in order to draw students to the program
Collaborating with Watkinson’s Development Office to research, write, and assist in securing grants
Engaging in community partnerships to continue to build a network of support for the program in the greater Hartford area
Collaborating with Watkinson’s Admissions office in identifying and recruiting new students
Co-Coordinator of Community, Equity, and Inclusion (shared responsibilities)
Teaching one class and taking on other aspects of school life and activity
Coordinating the logistics of CEI-sponsored events and initiatives
Guiding the work of on-campus affinity groups
Supporting Watkinson’s cohort of International students in partnership with the school’s International Student Coordinator
Collaborating and coordinating with programs and departments across the school
Providing budgetary oversight for the school’s CEI programming
Consulting with school leadership on professional learning, identifying possible opportunities, as well as anticipating and responding to concerns within the community as they pertain to community, equity, and inclusion
