Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our 6 person Business Office team. This position primarily supports the Controller by tracking and recording daily cash transactions and preparing the necessary entries on a weekly and monthly basis. This person also reconciles bank statements and the general ledger for the monthly close and prepares financial statements. In addition, this position tracks annual endowment activity. The Staff Accountant will work closely and collaborate with members of the Operations Leadership Team as well as other school leaders.
Responsibilities include:
Track cash transactions on a daily basis
Prepare journal entries to record cash
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Assist with year-end audit
Assist with transactions and activities related to the school’s investment portfolio
Assist with special projects
Assist with monthly/quarterly close
Provide end-user support for the credit card program
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least 2 years of experience working in school business operations, as well as fund and non-profit accounting experience.

Collaborative skills, including the ability to work cross-functionallyManage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with or knowledge of Veracross or similar school-based accounting software and HRIS/Payroll systems, preferably ADP
Attention to detail and analytical skills
Demonstrated commitment to not only work in a team within the Business Office but also willing to participate in the Operations Team and BB&N school-wide community building events.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
Essential Functions and Key Objectives:
Timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and various reconciliations
Attention to detail
Perform other duties as assigned.
