The Facilities Engineer Assistant is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation under the supervision of the Facilities Director. To perform this job successfully, an applicant must be able to support the Facilities Department in ensuring the safety, functionality, and compliance of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals to grow in the field of facilities management and contribute to the smooth operation of our school.
This position includes but is not limited to the following duties:
Coordinates responses to all assigned work orders originating from building users, using established processes.
Assists with routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Supports facility upgrades, renovations, and special projects as directed by the Facilities Director.
Performs general building maintenance, including painting, carpentry, and minor repairs.
Ensures the upkeep of common areas, grounds, and safety systems (e.g., fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc.).
Performs minor groundworks, including landscaping, debris removal, and general outdoor maintenance.
Assists with irrigation system repairs, including troubleshooting leaks, adjusting sprinkler heads, and replacing components as needed.
Supports inventory management by tracking supplies, tools, and equipment.
Responds promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Maintains compliance with safety protocols, building codes, and organizational policies.
Collaborates with contractors and vendors as needed for specialized repairs or projects.
Maintains required documents, records, work orders.
Performs general cleaning.
Follows guidelines for fulfillment of duties as described in the Employee Handbook
Performs other work related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in a related field is a plus.
Proven experience in facilities, maintenance, engineering, or a similar role preferred.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with landscaping and irrigation system maintenance preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Live scan and TB clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently lift equipment and materials weighing 50 lbs or more with the ability to lift up to 100 lbs
Ability to stand, climb, grasp and use precision tools, bend, kneel, sit
Ability to crawl, climb ladders, twist, turn and reach in completing a variety of job duties
Ability to use both close and distant vision
Ability to walk a 60-acre campus
Ability to operate vehicles and machines
Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time
Ability to work in wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school
Terms of Employment:
This is an exempt position. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, long-term disability, and a retirement plan (with up to 7% employer match). The regular workday is 8am-4:30pm. Occasional early morning, evening, and some weekend work is required.
