The high academic standards for which Holton-Arms School is known today were set during its first years at 2125 S Street, NW, Washington, D.C. Small classes were maintained to afford a maximum amount of individual attention to each student, and only the most qualified teachers were invited to join a faculty dedicated to the education of youth, “not just to the education of the mind but of the soul and spirit.” Mrs. Holton’s dream was to create an “Open Door,” where students would be inspired to explore new ideas and develop their full potential. The Holton-Arms School seeks a Senior Accountantto join their dynamic finance team. This position will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and the smooth operation of the accounting function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, and experience in handling general ledger activities, month-end closings, and financial statement preparation. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller - Finance Manager.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance and proficiency with accounting software (current system is MIP Fund Accounting) and advanced skills in MS Excel. A CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
We seek someone who is highly skilled in Accounting and Financial Reporting, Internal Controls and Compliance, Financial Analysis, Process Improvement and Systems Support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, fund accounting and financial reporting; excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently; attention to detail and accuracy; strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
