Reports to:Lower School (K-4) Division Director & Director of Counseling
Role Duration: Faculty 10 months, full time, beginning August 2025
Position Summary: The School Counselor provides comprehensive, developmentally appropriate services that ensure an opportunity for all students to develop to their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Position Responsibilities and Outcomes Desired:
Provide direct services to students:
Provide individual counseling and mediation as needed.
Knowledge of topics such as relationships, safety (personal and emotional), grief, emotional regulation, human development, anxiety, conflict resolution, and others that may arise.
Effectively collaborate, plan, and implement the Wellness Program for grades K to 4 including classroom lessons, assembly programming, and organization of guest speakers.
Provide services to faculty and staff:
Consult with the Division Director regularly to assess division specific needs.
Attend grade level meetings to assist with strategies and implementation of students’ social and academic goals.
Act as a facilitator in the teacher/student relationship, specifically to ensure successful and positive school performance.
Collaborate with faculty on cross-curricular integration.
Formal and informal student observation to identify individual student needs.
Work collaboratively with the Learning Specialist to help communicate the social and emotional recommendations of psychoeducational testing.
Provide services to parents:
Act as a facilitator in the parent/student relationship, specifically to ensure successful and positive school performance.
Knowledge of the referral process for community resources and professionals.
Organize and implement parenting workshops and programs.
Preferred Competencies:
Minimum of Masters Level Degree in Counseling Related Field
At least 2 years of School Counseling experience
Previous experience in an IB Primary Years Programme and/or willingness to attend training as required
Awareness of and ability to implement practices that support Belonging as they relate to the role of school counselor
Required Competencies:

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
An approach to working with students with patience, kindness, and humor
