The Financial Operations Specialist 3 is responsible for procurement and management of the general ledger and subsidiary accounting ledgers relating to Student Life Recreational Sports and the Student Wellness Center; completes accounting processes and auditing functions, performs routine and ad-hoc trend analysis, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and oversees general ledger and payroll accounting and maintenance activities, facilitates and reconciles the monthly payroll deduction file, as well as the various supplemental accounting systems unique to Recreational Sports. This role also reviews and authorizes purchases and all routine operational transactions, reviews transaction and financial documents to ensure proper procedures are followed and all transactions are policy compliant, and trains and advises staff on university and Student Life purchasing procedures including the navigation and use of Workday; works with Accounts Payable and vendors to resolve payment issues and serves as departmental contact for service/supply contracts.
This role is responsible for supporting a year-round budgeting process including identification of resource efficiencies and priorities and identifying and implementing opportunities for business process improvements within supported departments. To achieve operational excellence, the Financial Operations Specialist 3 also works with leadership of Recreational Sports and Student Wellness Center on the development and monitoring of key performance metrics in all financial operations. Works with assigned units at all levels, from strategic planning to day-to-day operations and measures results, and collaborates with internal partners and university purchasing office for bid process. Supports and mentors student staff and participates in Student Life and University committees as appointed.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related field
At least 4 years relevant experience
Knowledge of accounting principles and applications
Experience with organizational budgets, accounting systems, reporting and analysis
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite Products, especially Excel
Desired
Master's Degree in Business Administration.
4-8 years relevant experience
Business management experience
Prior work experience in Higher Education and/or Student Affairs
Working knowledge of Workday
Working knowledge of Tableau Server reporting
Job Profile Pay Range
