The Business Manager oversees fiscal budgeting, business planning, financial accounting, and unit operations for the Taylor Geospatial Institute (TGI). This position reviews and maintains financial records, ensures accurate and timely reporting on fiscal activities, reviews bid processes and invoice transactions, oversees purchasing, and serves as final approver for all financial transactions. This position also serves as a strategic partner to Human Resources, collaborating on various transactions, projects, and initiatives. Additionally, the Business Manager provides oversight of TGI initiatives and keeps leadership apprised of any significant deviations.Â
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
Prepares, administers, and analyzes the TGI budget; resolves budget issues and legal matters; develops and administers financial policies; processes budget requests, justifications, expenses, and revisions, monitors revenues and expensesâ‹Â
Performs cost analyses and creative cost containment; identifies weak fiscal financial performance; recommends financial solutions and implements corrective action plans; develops and prepares statistical reportsâ‹Â
Performs strategic analysis of business plan implementation and integration with marketing plan; assesses services to determine customer needsÂ
Manages human resource activities and ensures the timely completion of hiring processes, and that they are compliant with internal process and external regulations; works with departments to onboard and ensure correct security access for new employees
Supervises staff and ensures timely, accurate and compliant business process transactions in university systems to support the full employment lifecycleÂ
Monitors TGI financial accounts; assures accurate and timely reporting on fiscal activities; reviews bid proposals; oversees purchasing, billing, accounting, cash handling, grant preparation, and departmental technology activitiesâ‹Â
Implements and administers TGI policies and procedures; ensures their compliance and alignment to overall business goals and objectivesÂ
Performs special projects and other duties as assignedÂ
