University High School of Indiana seeks a full-time Business Manager/Director of Finance to support all financial operations of the school. University is a vibrant and dynamic community of 360 students and 50 faculty and staff who work together daily in service of the school’s mission “to expand the hearts and minds of students and to nurture excellence through academic, creative, and physical achievement.” University has reached its enrollment capacity for each of the last several years, while continuing to expand both racial and socioeconomic diversity within our student body.
The Business Manager/Director of Finance is responsible for all facets of the business office, as well as partnering with the administration on short and long-term financial planning for the school. Job duties include managing all aspects of the school’s budget (accounts payable and receivable), evaluating financial aid applications, preparing enrollment and employment contracts, contracting with vendors, and preparing the annual audit package. The Business Manager/Director of Finance also serves as a liaison with our PEO on payroll and benefit issues, and with our insurance representatives on risk management. The Business Manager/Director of Finance reports directly to the Head of School and is the staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Business Manager/Director of Finance is also a member of the school’s administrative team, serves on various committees, serves as a mentor in the school’s 1:1 mentoring program, and engages in various parts of the school community beyond the business department.
This position relies on a varied skill set that includes critical thinking and strategic planning, but also comfort with communication, customer service, and building/maintaining relationships with a vast number of constituents. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or other advanced degree preferred
Strong background in finance, budgeting, and cash management required
3+ years business office leadership required; experience in an educational or non-profit setting preferred
Ability to work autonomously and manage department-level work including personnel and planning required; experience with this preferred
Willingness to mentor required; mentoring experience preferred
