Applications are currently being solicited for a Grants Writer to work with researchers affiliated with the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. We are a community of researchers focused on all aspects of quantitative modeling in the life sciences.
The work will focus on creating the strategic vision for expanding our opportunities for funding interdisciplinary research among disciplinary researchers. The person in this role will identify and lead writing the NIMBioS proposals to funding opportunities in the area of Mathematical Life Sciences Research. Provides leadership to NIMBioS-affiliated researchers in securing external funding. They will work with researchers to craft and hone their vision for proposed research efforts, and drafting language to clearly capture that vision and communicate it to funders and evaluators.
A candidate should have some relevant subject matter expertise in mathematical modeling and statistical modeling sufficient to understand the nature of research, education, and outreach efforts being proposed to funders, and should be able to draft management plans and reasonable timelines for workflow and deliverables. Lastly, the person will be expected to help shepherd the paperwork involved with proposals through various stages of approvals.
The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills and experience working with researchers in a STEM field.
