Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center
The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for the position of Veterinary Assistant for the Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center (EPRC). The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality care for equine patients by performing a variety of functions including general care, feeding, cleaning, exercising, record keeping, and equipment operation. Assists veterinarians by holding equines for injections, jogging the equines for a lameness evaluation. Assists the farrier by holding equines for trimming/shoeing their hooves. Cleans and beds stalls, feeding and providing water to patients. Properly cleans the facility, to include sweeping, spraying/bleaching floors, and dusting. Other duties assigned by the supervisor or veterinarians.
Depending on qualifications of the successful candidate, position will begin as a Veterinary Assistant 1 or 2, or Senior Veterinary Assistant 1 or 2. More responsibilities will be expected of those hired in at a more advanced level.
