JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator this position will conduct research duties to include phenotype analysis of animal models using macroscopic to microscopic assessments and will be engaged in the testing of innovative therapeutic strategies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs handling and breeding of animal models.
2. Performs sacrifice of animals for tissue collection.
3. Performs genotype identification by DNA extraction and PCR. Maintains animal inventory.
4. Performs in vivo testing of cardiac function including ECG and blood pressure measurements.
5. Conducts histology staining (e.g., hematoxilin and eosin, oil red O, picrosirius red...).
6. Performs molecular biology experiments such as Western blotting and quantitative PCR.
7. Order supplies, inventory, and responsible for maintenance of the lab.
8. Performs other duties as necessary.
