THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor this position will contribute to studies on host-pathogen interactions responsible for immunopathologies associated with respiratory viral infections and identifying novel drug targets to treat viral infections.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages quality controls and the execution of clinical protocol and data management for multiple clinical studies.
2. Ensures compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements.
3. Establishes and maintains sound clinical and data collection practices to ensure validity of studies.
4. Participates in protocol development, site/investigator selection, study initiation and termination activities.
5. Oversees the development of clinical protocols; participates in the development of the overall clinical plan.
6. Collaborates on statistical analysis plans, and coordinates the protocol review and approval process, to include submissions to regulatory agencies.
7. Participates in the identification of potential subjects, conducts study site visits, collects samples, collects, and reviews data.
8. Conducts clinical visits and advises/trains personnel on sponsor/regulatory requirements for study conduct.
9. Independently carries out clinical and technical tasks such as study visits, processing specimens, experiments, and assays in accordance with assigned protocols, troubleshooting of experimental methods, data collation, data analysis, and reporting results promptly. Develops and completes final study reports.
10. Monitors the conduct and progress of the studies to ensure compliance with established protocols, appropriate research methodology, and study timelines.
11. Maintains detailed observations, records, notebooks, files, and other necessary record keeping and tracking systems.
12. Enters and maintains the appropriate study records/database.
13. Conducts monthly audits and follow-up to identify significant problems and issues and to ensure that all clinical aspects of studies are being carried out in accordance with state and federal regulations, guidelines, and policies.
14. Prepares audits and evaluative reports; participates and/or conducts site meetings and multi-center investigator meetings.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
