The CIS Business Manager provides leadership and supervision for the business services team, serves on the CIS leadership team, and is responsible for CIS financial management and administrative operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership (35%). The business manager participates on the CIS leadership team; provides leadership and supervision for the CIS business services team; represents program and team interests to the executive director and team directors; contributes to CIS planning, strategy development, and decision making; facilitates communication and collaboration across teams and departments; represents CIS at university and IPS meetings; and leads performance improvement initiatives for office processes and related CIS operations.
Financial Management (35%). The business manager develops and manages a strong and knowledgeable financial management team; ensures sound budgeting and accounting practices across the agency; administers financial components of grant proposals and reports; manages business relationship with funding agencies, vendors, and university departments; develops and communicates financial reports and analysis to CIS and IPS leadership; manages compliance with university, state and federal guidelines; and works closely with the IPS Business Services team to ensure alignment with IPS and UT financial practices.
Administrative Operations (30%). The business manager develops and manages a strong operations team that includes training logistics and registration, information technology, and human resources; works closely with the IPS human resources team to ensure alignment with IPS and UT human resources practices; manages office safety and emergency preparedness efforts; and reviews team member performance and recommends improvements.
