The Siena School is seeking to fill the position of part-time Controller/Accounting Manager. The Siena School, founded in 2006, serves bright college-bound students with mild to moderate language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia in grades 3-12. The school has two campuses, one in Silver Spring, MD and one in Oakton, VA.
The Controller/Accounting Manager will be an integral part of The Siena School administrative team. Reporting directly to the Executive Head of School, this position supports the Director of Finance and Operations in any or all facets of Finance and Accounting as related to the two campuses. This is a part-time hybrid-remote position that requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week.
Maintain and balance the general ledger for all business entities
Maintain all QuickBooks accounting files for the school
Maintain and update the chart of accounts
Ensure accurate and up to date accounting for all transactions
Ensure inter-company accounts (Due To/Due From) accurate and up to date
Ensure balance sheet items (prepaid expenses, accruals, etc.) accurate and up to date
Prepare and distribute monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports to school administrators, board, accountants, etc. as needed
Prepare other financial reports as needed
Train and support business office staff on QuickBooks use and entries as needed
Manage all student tuition billing and Accounts Receivable
Ensure accurate accounting of all tuition billing and payments, including Financial Aid
Manage master tuition billing spreadsheet(s)
Prepare and send invoices
Process payments received / tuition remittances
Monitor and manage A/R; work with families to implement payment plans as needed
Prepare annual tax statements for families, as needed
Manage FACTS and other vendor relationships as needed
The Siena Scholarship Fund
Prepare annual financial reports as needed
Submit requests for payments from the Fund
Accounts Payable - accept, process and manage all vendor payments
Employee expenses – track, manage and administer employee expense reimbursements
