St. Stephen's and St. Agnes is an Age 3 - grade 12 Episcopal day school located six miles south of Washington, D.C., in Alexandria, Virginia. Our school consists of three distinct campuses within a 1.5 mile radius, each uniquely tailored to meet the needs of the students within.
The human resource director is responsible for overseeing daily HR functions to insure the school is in compliance with applicable laws. As well as strategic planning to allow the school to offer an attractive and competitive benefits package. This position reports to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with five years human resource experience and preferably SHRM certification.
Job responsibilities include:
Hiring and Employee Management
Assist in the recruitment process by working with the various departments/divisions on posting open positions and completing social media checks.
Complete the recruitment cycle for faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible employees through onboarding and benefit selections.
Meet with all new faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible employees to review the onboarding process, including background checks, tax withholdings, benefit selections, etc.
Work with Department of Social Services regarding Child Abuse and Neglect Registry screening of faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible school employees.
Work with Fieldprint to review fingerprint results of faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible school employees.
Enrolling all new faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible employees in the Sexual Harassment Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens training courses, and assigning all current faculty, administrative, and benefit eligible employees to new training plans on an annual basis.
Oversee random drug testing program
Perform exit interviews
Offboard employees who are leaving/retiring, including review of available benefit options.
Successfully manage and coordinate benefit programs (Health, Dental, Cafeteria Plans, 403(b) Retirement Plan, AFLAC, LTD, and Life/AD&D, Flex plans, and Employee Home or Computer Loans) for employees, including all employee communication, problem solving and claims resolution.
Reconcile all benefit plan invoices for accuracy.
Research and implement new supplemental benefit programs as needed.
Review, process, and monitor all FMLA requests through completion.
Acts as Workers Compensation liaison between employee and the insurance company.
Annual review of benefit options and propose strategic revisions.
Coordinate annual enrollment for employee benefit selections.
Review quarterly report on health benefit utilization and strategize on improved utilization.
Review employee eligibility for employer retirement contributions in conjunction with payroll processing.
Set up periodic educational meetings for employees with the Church Pension Group, TIAA/Captrust, etc.
Review TIAA quarterly reports.
Update and coordinate review of employee handbooks with attorney and school administration.
Develop/edit/update job descriptions for all employees.
Follow up with candidates and/or School's Legal counsel when questions with the background check results arise.
