The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and creative part-time Athletic Trainer. The part-time athletic trainer is responsible for the care, treatment, and prevention of athletic injuries and for all students involved in the interscholastic program. The trainer, under the supervision of the team physician and Head Athletic Trainer, is also responsible for implementing programs to prevent injuries, to treat injuries, and to establish procedures for rehabilitation.
The athletic trainer position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and the Co-Directors of Athletics, is a 10-month, part time position, beginning with August pre-season camps and ending in June. The job would be 20-25 hours per week with the need to be flexible with the hours each week based on competition and practice schedule.
Responsibilities Overview:
Assist Head athletic trainer with all aspects of our athletic training program, including but not limited to:
- Attend practices/games of athletic events. Should a conflict arise between multiple games, a prioritized list will be determined between the head trainer and the co-directors of athletics. On game days and practice days, a schedule will be created to provide appropriate coverage prior to and after competition or practice. Game days and practices days could include school scheduled days off and holidays as well as weekends;
- Assist head athletic trainer if there is need for specific rehabilitation;
- Assist head athletic trainer in maintaining the training room its cleanliness;
- Meet with the head athletic trainer on a daily basis;
- Assist with maintaining accurate and up to date files for the following:

- Medical excuses and release forms;
- Initial injury/ accident report forms;
- Pre-season physical forms (in coordination with the Health Services Office);
- Daily log treatment;
- IMPACT baseline testing;
- Prepare medical release forms for coaches;
- Prepare a list of student with Allergy and Medication issues for coaches;
- Assist head athletic trainer with any work necessary to maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with our health office and coaches, and keep proper inventory;
- Distribute water coolers and ice chest daily to each team (ability to lift a 10 gallon water cooler -approximate weight 65lbs);
- Assist with athletic office duties should it be deemed necessary by the co-directors of athletics;
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree, Masters degree a plus.
- Maintain NATA certification and registration with the State of NJ Medical Examiner's office;
- Work schedule includes days, evenings, weekends and school holidays;
- Must be detailed oriented as well as through and accurate attention to details and communication;
- Excellent interpersonal skills including responsive customer service and strong oral and written communication;
- Strong technical competency and ability to learn new technology
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment, and complete job responsibilities with minimal supervision direction;
