Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a Director of Alumni/ae Engagement. Working closely with a dynamic advancement team and Head of School, this individual will be responsible for developing strategic, creative, and content-driven programs that strengthen and promote new and meaningful connections with BB&N alumni/ae while elevating the visibility of BB&N throughout the alumni/ae community. Working closely with the Alumni/ae Council, the Director will support and collaborate with a range of alumni/ae affinity groups and engage in diversity, equity, and inclusion work with an emphasis on building an inclusive and welcoming community among BB&N’s diverse and global alumni/ae. This individual will also oversee the Associate Director of Alumni/ae Programs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the strategic direction and operations of the Alumni/ae Office including program, volunteer relations, budget, and staff.
- Responsible for volunteer recruitment and management for the Alumni/ae Council, its subcommittees, and other volunteer groups as needed. Will serve as the primary staff liaison for Alumni/ae Council members and other key volunteers.
- Set long-term alumni/ae engagement goals in the context of the school’s Bright Bold Next comprehensive campaign.
- Work with academic departments, the arts, and athletics to enhance alumni/ae programming.
- Actively support groups such as the LGBTQIA+ affinity group, the alumni/ae of color network, and the BB&N Reconciliation Project.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of Alumni/ae Programs to oversee the planning of regional and on-campus alumni/ae events.
- Conduct regular alumni/ae visits relating to discovery, cultivation, and stewardship.
- Evaluate and develop an appropriate and meaningful reunion program that aligns with and supports broader alumni/ae engagement strategy.
- Collaborate with the communications department on the content and publishing of our Alumni/ae magazine, the Bulletin.
- Provide staff support to the Head of School, Chief Advancement Officer, and other administrators at events across the country.
- Collaborate with and oversee the Associate Director of Alumni/ae Programs
- Oversee the alumni/ae website content and the online community directory to ensure that information is updated in a timely fashion.
- Work closely with the Director of Digital Engagement on social media sites related to alumni/ae.
Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of Alumni/ae Program work. A Bachelor's degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.
In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail is necessary; must be well organized and have the ability to manage a number of projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Must have a proven ability to motivate, engage, and work with a wide variety of constituencies.
- Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
- Must be able to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
- Ability and willingness to travel and occasionally work weekends and evenings required.
- Strong computer skills and database experience are required.
