Summary Job Description
The Community Engagement and Alumni Associate is a high-energy multi-tasker with dynamic leadership ability to build strong relationships. As the Community Engagement and Alumni Associate you will be responsible for developing (alongside Development Director) and implementing strategies that mobilize people to give, advocate and volunteer. The areas of focus will be alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and current community events. Reporting to the Director of Development, the position is a full-time salaried (exempt) role though-out the calendar year. Occasional evening and weekend hours are necessary to attend certain meetings and lead events.
Community Engagement
- Supporting the Development Director in partnering and fostering relationships with the Parent Association, Admissions office, Fine Arts, Athletics/Booster Club, and Restore and Sustainability department.
- Coordinating and executing events where the development team needs to be present to cultivate relationships in our community (i.e., Giving Day, New parent events, Grandparents Day, etc.)
- Regularly analyzing comparable independent schools and our community to identify opportunities to grow alumni, alumni parents, and grandparent engagement.
- Monitoring the success of community engagement strategies and budget and making course corrections. This would include having an evaluation tool to gauge success.
Alumni Relations
- Create and Implement strategies and communication to increase/cultivate alumni and alumni parent engagement.
- Plan and execute fundraising activities for the alumni and alumni parent groups that will encourage a lifetime commitment to offering financial and volunteer support to the school.
- Manage an accurate database; identify ways to update existing database.
- Collaborate with marketing to create/update alumni communications and social media accounts.
- Manage the ongoing alumni budget as approved by the Director of Development.
- Build out and manage an Alumni Council; Project manage council with homecoming, alumni days, alumni events, etc.
- Solicit gifts from Alumni.
Grandparent Relations
- Create and Implement strategies and communication plan to increase grandparent engagement.
- Plan and execute fundraising/cultivating activities for grandparents.
- Targeted messaging during year-end giving and around endowments, estates, etc.
- Collaborate with marketing to build out website page and grandparent newsletters.
- Create, build, and manage grandparents committee.
- Solicit gifts from grandparents.
General Development Support
- Assist implementing special event activities sponsored by the development office
- As capital campaigns arise, support development office as needed
- Assist Development Director with best practice research trends with parity schools and professional independent school organizations (ISM, NCAIS, etc.). Especially in focused areas i.e., alumni, PA, grandparents, etc.
- Individual credit card reporting
- Continuous data entry and reporting in our Donor base system
- Oversee weekly deposits
- Other duties and project work as assigned by the Development Director or Head of School.
- Represent Christ in all aspects of serving in the position; provide biblical integration and spiritual nurturing and training to students/colleagues as appropriate to the role
Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ, reflecting a desire to serve Him and others in work and life
- Eager to serve in a Christian learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship
- 2+ years experience in development and/or community engagement office strongly preferred
- Experience with database entry and reporting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Experience working in diverse communities including multiple generations preferred
- Experience in volunteer management and coordination preferred
- Demonstrated ability to serve with initiative and pro-active approaches
- Strong administrative and organizational skills and computer proficiency in Microsoft suite required. Donor database experience a plus.
- Ability to maintain the greatest degree of confidentiality and professionalism in support of the Development Office
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as occasionally required.
- Ability to work under pressure both independently and within a team-oriented environment
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs as needed
- Bachelor's degree required
