Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager III for the Survey Research Center. Under the general direction of the Director of the Bloustein Center for Survey Research and Director of Business Services, manages accounting and budget for this very active research unit within the Edward J Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy (EJB). Grant management includes pre- and post-award processes such as budget development, creating and maintaining boilerplate documents, routing proposals through the university proposal system (RAPSS) and post award fiscal management including e-cert compliance, reconciliation of individual projects and annual/quarterly funder reports as well as close-out summaries.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Oversees the budget and accounting functions of the Bloustein Center for Survey Research, a complex center with multiple internal operating accounts as well as numerous grant gift accounts.
Serves as the point person for work with University central administration offices such as Research and Sponsored Programs, Grant Accounting, Payroll, Student Accounting, and others.
Analyzes and compiles data to populate internal and external reports.
Creates annual budgets in coordination with center director.
Liaison with clients regarding administrative and reporting requirements.
Handles internal business processes like purchasing, payroll and commitment accounting.
Represents Center at budget meetings.
Prepares data for annual budget projections and forecasts.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
A minimum of five years of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Fluent in Excel including pivot tables and look ups and other advanced functions.
Knowledge of university accounting systems, i.e., Marketplace, Cornerstone, HCM, RAPSS.
Knowledge and experience using Access and/or SQL, Tableau, OTBI customization.
