Primary Responsibility: The Associate Director of Development works closely with the Director of Advancement, Head of School, volunteers and staff to provide leadership for the advancement program as it builds a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the School and community. The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for the development and implementation of LJA’s annual giving program, including direct solicitation of individual, corporate, and foundation gifts as well as related cultivation and stewardship activities. This position reports directly to the Director of Advancement and collaborates closely on development of major and capital gifts.
Helps donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with Le Jardin Academy.
Collaborates closely with the Director of Advancement on strategy and implementation to ensure smooth integration of Le Jardin’s capital, major giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving programs.
Develops and executes innovative fundraising strategies to advance the Annual Giving Program and expand and diversify the donor pool with emphasis on support for scholarship, innovation, and facilities enhancement.
Meets stated goals and continually increases annual giving and donor engagement
Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, and solicits funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations in accordance with Advancement Operating Plan and funding priorities.
Actively manages a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual donors and prospects, cultivates relationships with parents and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
Develops and executes unique and innovative cultivation and stewardship activities through well-defined giving circles in alignment with the strategic direction and desired outcomes for the School.
Cultivates a well-defined culture of philanthropy across the school’s constituencies, including such internal stakeholder groups as faculty, staff, and board. Aligns philanthropic work to the school’s values.
Collaborates with the Alumni and Engagement team to build a strong alumni program defined by a clear identity and well defined communications strategies and engagement plans for such constituent groups as alumni, alumni affiliates, grandparents, and friends of LJA. Integrates alumni prospects into annual giving and major gifts strategies.
Develops content for direct mail and other fundraising communications to advance fundraising and improve the school’s overall visibility and identity with donors.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures set forth for use and growth of the Raiser’s Edge NXT software and ensures database integrity. Manages Development Assistant’s daily use of RE NXT.
Produces monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on annual giving and donor engagement.
Manages an annual budget
Maintains close and highly collaborative relationships within the Advancement team, management, faculty, board, parents, and other constituencies.
Identifies, cultivates, recruits, and develops fundraising volunteers and leadership.
Oversees coordination of all fundraising and event logistics for annual gala
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: 5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably, but not limited to, work in development at an independent school or in higher education
Knowledgeable in annual giving, major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation giving, and donor relations
Major gifts solicitation and capital campaign experience desired
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to excellence, detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in Google Tools
Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT
Graphic design skills
Positive attitude, relationship-building skills, a high-level of self-motivation, and a strong, responsible work ethic
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings as necessary
