Summit Montessori School, a Beginner to Grade 6 single-campus, independent school in Framingham, Massachusetts seeks a Director of Finance and Operations starting on or before July 1, 2021.
The Director of Finance and Operations (DOF) is the financial and operational leader of the Summit Montessori Community. The DOF is responsible for all aspects of operations and finance at the school. Reporting to the Head of School, and working with appropriate trustee committees, the Director of Finance and Operations manages the resources of Summit Montessori School in support of the mission of the school. The Director of Finance and Operations is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team.
Founded in 1996 by a group of enthusiastic parents who decided that MetroWest Boston would benefit from a new Montessori school, Summit is nestled in an historic Victorian Building in a beautiful neighborhood in Framingham. The school enrolls about 100 students from Beginner (age 21 months) to 6th grade and is in the process of expanding its school to accommodate is growing Beginner program. The school is led by Martha Torrence, who is serving her 9th year as Head of School
Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate
The Director of Finance and Operations must be able to work independently, be well organized and flexible, having strong, positive communication skills, the ability to delegate effectively, and must lead by example with a positive attitude. We expect the Director of Finance and Operations to be involved and active in life of the community.
The Director of Finance and Operations must minimally hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Accounting. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration and/or a CPA is strongly preferred. A minimum of five years experience in the field, preferably in an independent school setting, is required. Continued professional development in the form of conferences, webinars, and networking is expected.
