RESPONSIBILITIES The Controller is responsible for recommending and administering all accounting policies and ensuring that strong internal controls and cost-effective transaction processing routines protect the school's assets and result in efficient, meaningful, timely, and accurate financial reporting. Essential duties include obtaining proficiency in using all applicable software systems used in the Business Office and possessing the ability to train others to use the software, and preparing, monitoring, and reporting on the general ledger, annual budget, and the capital budgeting process. Assists and acts as back-up monitoring checking account cash balances. Coordinates and gathers data for audits, taxes, compliance reports, and risk management. In addition to regular duties, the Controller is expected to participate in various clubs and activities, coach athletic teams, perform student supervisory and chaperone duties, and engage in other duties as may be assigned by the proper authorities. REQUIREMENTS Must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent business experience. Certified Public Accountant licensure preferred. Prior experience in a not-for-profit environment, especially gift and endowment management is desirable. Must have excellent people leadership and managerial experience and demonstrated passion and experience coaching and developing staff. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Highly developed computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills. Must possess the ability to work under the pressure of many priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
