General Summary: Provides leadership for the summer school program and other auxiliary USM programs (after school program, school bus transportation, facility rentals, school bookstore) designed to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students and families. Leads and assists in the implementation of strategies, practices, and initiatives intended to promote a positive school culture that is inclusive and responsive to all members of the school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and implements the USM summer program (Summer I.D.E.A.S.) course offerings in consultation with appropriate members of administration and faculty.
Designs, implements, and supports the implementation of the USM Summer I.D.E.A.S. curriculum designed to promote the academic development of students.
Prepares the Summer I.D.E.A.S. calendar and schedule.
Collaborates with other staff to ensure proper registration and dissemination of course offerings.
Coordinates the hiring of seasonal staff, vendors, and assignments.
Monitors the quality of instruction for program offerings. Supervises and evaluates assigned staff.
Coordinates the publication of promotional materials.
Provides creative leadership in developing and implementing other auxiliary programs and services intended to build a positive and productive school climate conducive to learning for all members of the school community, including, but not limited to the USM After School Program oversight, school bus transportation, facility rentals, school bookstore, etc.
Works collaboratively with the USM music and athletic programs to coordinate and promote lessons and rentals.
Keeps abreast of current research, innovations, and trends in the areas of curriculum and instruction and provides pertinent information and recommendations.
Works collaboratively with administration to prepare and administer the auxiliary services operating budget.
Promotes a safe and healthy school environment. Responds to crisis situations when appropriate.
Responds to community inquiries regarding USM’s instructional programs.
Prepares and maintains records as required.
Assumes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Advanced Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business or related field
5-8 years’ related successful experience as an educator, administrator or business leader preferred
Successful experience working with students
Previous experience working effectively with culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations
