Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager III, Supervisor for the Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS). Reporting to the Executive Director of RuCCS, the Business Manager oversees the fiscal and administrative functioned related to operating, discretionary, sponsored and non-sponsored accounts. Responsibilities are performed using GAAP, under general supervision and with few direct instructions, and include account management and ensuring efficient financial operations. They will work with PIs to develop program budgets and prepare sponsored program proposal submissions, track award expenditures, track effort certification for accuracy, and manage project account close-outs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Regularly analyzes data and prepares monthly and quarterly reports related to assigned accounts and general financial data for the Directors to assist in management of departmental financial assets and coordination and tracking of commitments to/from various units.
Directly supervise a Senior Program Coordinator (SPG) and workstudy students. T
Oversees personnel management, and work in coordination with the SPC to complete Employee Charging Instructions, resolve payroll issues, work with TA/GA assignments, and assists with special projects, as required.
Oversees events, the logistics of the planning, and determine how to resource and staff those events.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a financial/administrative function.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and communication skills, computer literacy, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Prior experience supporting grants and/or sponsored programs in an academic or non-profit research environment.
Prior supervisory experience.
Software will include Cornerstone, Discoverer, and MS Office Suite, HCM Peoplesoft.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work environment is busy with activity of students, faculty and staff.
This position must manage competing priorities while attending to regular inquiries and problem resolution in a hectic work environment as variable challenges present demands on a daily basis.
Ability to handle interruptions and quickly re-establish focus on multiple tasks at hand on a continual basis.
