Maple Street’s DOF will play a strategic role in the daily responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial and business aspects of the school The DOF reports to the Head of School and serves on the school’s leadership team. Maple Street is a small school, and all the adults in the building are considered educators; the DOF is warmly invited to be an active participant in the life of the school.

Primary duties and responsibilities:
Manage the Business Office
Design and implement a budget that supports the school’s mission and values
Daily fiscal management, including: management of the operating fund, investments, tuition billing and collection, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and human resources
Provide Monthly and quarterly financial reports
Administer the annual budget and quarterly forecasting, maintaining all accounts related to budget
Prepare for annual audit
Manage Enrollment and Financial Aid in partnership with the Head of School and admissions team
Administer and maintain regulatory reporting and compliance
Collaborate with the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee
Review, negotiate, and approve vendor contracts
Serve as primary liaison with banks and financial institutions
Compile and file all reports and applications for maintaining tax exempt status and not-profit status
Work with insurance agencies to provide appropriate and cost-effective liability, property, and workers’ compensation coverage
Establish and maintain employee benefits programs
Collaborate with and assist the Head of School in hiring and salary negotiations; provides information to Head of School for salary comparisons, both internal and external
Prepare employment agreements
Maintain thorough and secure employee files
Manage all aspects of the accounts receivable process
Participate in financial aid decisions and communicate with families throughout the process
