Summary The Director of Annual Fund and Major Gifts is a dynamic representative of the School who is passionate about Greenhill and advancing our mission. This position serves as a development officer with a focus on the Greenhill Fund (annual giving) as well as working on major gift prospects, alumni major gifts, first-tier donors for capital projects, and planned gifts. The Director of Annual Fund and Major Gifts works closely with other members of the Advancement Team to strengthen relationships between the School and its alumni, parents, and grandparents.
Role and Responsibilities • Work in close coordination with the Chief Advancement Officer and other department colleagues and key volunteers to ensure that Greenhill maximizes opportunities for philanthropic support in the community and carefully stewards each donor. • Identify, solicit, and steward parents, major donors, alumni, grandparents, corporations, and foundations for fundraising events and initiatives. • Provide vision, leadership, oversight, and support to volunteer Greenhill Fund leadership and grade captains to achieve annual giving goals while ensuring alignment with the School’s mission and comprehensive Advancement strategy. • Develop annual giving goals and objectives that align with School’s operating budget needs to support faculty salaries, financial aid, and other programs related to academics, arts, and athletics. • Represent Greenhill in an official capacity as needed and requested. • Serve as an advocate for donors, both internally and externally, to maximize opportunities for them to remain engaged with the community. • Support activities, initiatives, and events sponsored by the Advancement Office and throughout the School. • Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with other School divisions and departments to promote strategic Advancement pursuits. • Manage budgets for Annual Fund and Major Gift operations
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or comparable work experience. • Minimum 5 – 7 years of major gift fundraising experience required; experience in NAIS-accredited independent school or nonprofit environment preferred. • Experience working with volunteer campaign leadership. • Have the energy, enthusiasm, and focus to achieve established fundraising and participation goals. • Strong proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software required; willingness to advance skills in Office 365, Excel, Word, Publisher, One Note, and use of Raiser's Edge or other constituent database. • Ability to manage highly confidential personal and financial information. • Ability to prioritize tasks with keen attention to detail; be self-motivated, independent, and flexible; have excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer-service skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while handling multiple assignments simultaneously. • Demonstrated commitment to organizational values of honor, respect, and compassion. • Demonstrated ability in motivating volunteers; the ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. • Demonstrated success in budget management. • Experience with annual giving, endowment fundraising, and capital campaigns and planned giving.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • Normal office conditions. • Evening and weekend events vary in location.
