The Hun School of Princeton seeks a Staff Accountant & Collections Assistant, part-time to assist with day to day reconciliations and to resolve delinquent billing accounts along with securing payment resolution. This person will also input various billing charges and be responsible for some reconciliation work in the billing process. Must possess advanced excel skills and assist with the implementation of the new accounting system related to billing and general ledger.
This position reports to the Controller, is part-time, non-exempt, working five (5) days per week (Monday through Friday) and five (5) hours per day, hours worked can be flexible within the School’s business hours (8am to 4pm) for a total of twenty-five (25) hours per week.
Responsibilities and Essential functions:
High volume of contact (verbal and written) and correspondence with customers;
Negotiating approved payment arrangements for tuition accounts;
Record keeping, follow-up and accurate updating of account documentation;
Identifying, researching and resolving discrepancies and issues;
Input various charges within the billing process;
Reconcile customer balances with the general ledger;
Maintaining open communication with delinquent accounts to assure prompt collection;
Maintaining outside excel spreadsheets to provide needed detail reporting and follow up related to new implementation of accounting system;
Work to understand the mapping of reports in new system to provide needed information to all departments for actual and budget reporting;
Back up to front desk to cover vacations/sick time, understanding and documenting processes;
Streamline the processes for Summer Programs in order to handle the growing needs related to billing and collections;
Responsible for monthly reconciliations for analysis and preparation for management reports;
Other duties as position evolves.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Google Mail (Gmail) applications are required; experience with Blackbaud and/or Veracross product suite a plus;

Cooperate and work together with all managers, supervisors, and co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including utilization of appropriate judgment;
Must possess good social skills and ability to interact and work with a diverse group that makes up the Hun School community including co-workers, staff, faculty, students, alumni and parents;
Have knowledge, flexibility and ability to fill in and cover any additional duties as needed;
Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary;
Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent required;
Must be fingerprinted and pass the State of New Jersey criminal background check.
This position is part-time, twelve (12) months per year, non- exempt, and eligible for benefits afforded to part-time Hun School employees. The working environment is a school and office environment on a hilly 45-acre campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The abilities to occasionally lift files and storage boxes, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment are required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators.
