Latin School of Chicago has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and accomplished Director of Operations. Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision in all operational areas for the school as well as overseeing and ensuring the seamless operation of functions including but not limited to facilities, operations, security, food service and building projects. Both a big picture thinker and a hands-on implementer, the Director engages with administrators, educators, support personnel, parents and students to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the school campus.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Latin school campus.
Create, implement, and enforce policies and standards for the Facilities & Operation
department to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of the School.
Supervise and support the continued performance and development of all Facilities &
Operations departments and personnel.
Proactively interface and support School administrators on their departments’ needs and the goals of the School.
Accountable for all Facilities & Operations budgets.
Partner with the CFO to direct major building projects, assuming the majority of the
project management role with employees, contractors, services, and School community.
Responsible for the physical security of the School buildings and grounds and ensuring that the School is safe for all employees, students, parents and visitors.
Partners with the leadership team on updates and effective implementation on the
School’s Crisis Plan.
Oversees food service operations and serves as the main point of contact for outside food service vendors.
Ensures mail and copy needs for the school are met and creates policies on mail and
copier practices and works with vendors to ensure the needs of the school are met.
Oversees the evening and weekend security personnel. Coordinates their schedules,
keeps them appraised of policy changes, security incidents, and school events.
5 to 7 years of experience in building operations, building constructions management, facilities management, food service and personnel management; including 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a relevant leadership role. Experience with school operations management preferred.
Experience in site safety and security infrastructure implementation and management.
Prior experience with operations budgeting and forecasting
Ability to effectively communicate and work with contacts at all levels of the school including senior administration, the Board, outside vendors, school personnel, and community members.
Demonstrated competency in managing strategic and day to day operations in order to continuously improve school operations.
Strong supervisory experience required; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports.
Excellent organizational and project management skills and exhibits a high attention to details
Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates grit and personal responsibility
Proactive problem solver who is able to work successfully in a high-paced environment.
