The Director of Communications and Development will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and dynamic communications strategy for the school as well as all aspects of fundraising including the Annual Fund, Capital Campaign, and fundraising events. The Director serves as the creative architect for all internal and external communications, including website management, social media management, marketing, advertising, and public relations. The Director of Communications and Development must be able to think strategically and practically to implement a results-oriented development plan that includes traditional and innovative strategies and should include a complementary focus on prospecting and tactics to build key relationships with alumni, families, and community, corporate, and foundation leaders. This position reports to the Head of School, sits on the Development Committee, and works closely with the Board of Trustees, Business Manager, and the Director of Enrollment.
Serve as the central point person for school communications, including generating, editing, proofing publications and key correspondence
Serve as editor for the Employee Handbook, Parent and Student Handbook, and Employee FAQs
Manage school photos using Vidigami
Assist with monthly Administrative Reports for the Board of Trustees
In the event of a major event or crisis, consult with Head of School to assist with communications
In conjunction with the Board of Trustees and Head of School, implement fundraising initiatives to meet and set annual goals
Generate print and electronic materials, solicitations, acknowledgements, development reports, and a range of stewardship materials
Generate grant proposals
Supervise and make recommendations to Alumni Coordinator for alumni outreach
This position requires independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance. Strong IT skills to include an excellent working knowledge of publishing software, social media and website design. Outstanding written and oral skills. Must have 3 - 5 years of prior work experience in relevant role responsibilities.
Additional Salary Information: Health Insurance, holidays/vacations per school calendar, and one summer week closure plus an additional 12 days, 8 sick days, and 2 personal days
