This position is responsible for overseeing financial, accounting and human resources activities for Berkeley Hall School, including budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.
This position includes but is not limited to the following duties:
Guides financial strategies by establishing, monitoring, and administering the school’s policies and procedures as directed by the COO.
Manages two direct reports.
Oversees the accounting operations in accordance with the GAAP and the school’s policies and procedures, maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Oversees payroll processing.
Performs monthly reconciliations and closings.
Analyzes financial and operating metrics, providing analysis for review.
Compiles quarterly financial statements.
Prepares preliminary and final annual operating budgets for review.
Keeps up-to-date on current HR trends.
Complies with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, proposing new/updated policies and updated procedures for implementation.
Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending professional development trainings and reviewing professional publications.
Maintains equipment inventories and reconciliations.
Follows guidelines for fulfillment of duties as described in the Employee Handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field (required)
Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
Working knowledge of ADP (recommended)
CPA license (preferred)
Regularly sits, talks, and listens
Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
