Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager III (BM III) Supervisor for the SAS- Division of Life Sciences. This position reports to the Associate Director of Administration and is responsible for directing, managing and maintaining the financial and administration of grant accounts for the Division of Life Sciences (DLS). The BM III Supervisor assists in the day to day business and administration operations to ensure compliance of DLS policies and procedures.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Monitors, verifies, and develops reports on expenditures of budgeted funds, prepares financial statements reflecting status of programs and activities.
Independently provides analysis of financial data and prepares financial documents and reports for internal and external purposes.
Ensures compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
Acts as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the integration of DLS business activities are in compliance with University policies and procedures.
Supervises business specialist staff and requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
Supports The Associate Director on special projects as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally-accepted accounting principles and practices.
Also requires a minimum of five years relevant experience in a financial/accounting function.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication skills and computer literacy, specifically with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and private grand funding programs and regulations is required.
Knowledge of federal and state grant funding policies and procedures.
Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of faculty and staff.
Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion on operational decision-making skills when needed.
Knowledge of Federal and State grant regulations preferred.
Experience managing large diversified funding portfolio.
Has or is working on completion of the Business/Accounting Certificate.
This position requires excellent computer skills including but not limited to Excel, Word, Access, and in-depth understanding of University Systems Payroll (HCM), Oracle Cornerstone (FMS/SciQuest), Discoverer, Tableau, RAPSS
A strong working knowledge of the DLS shadow system, Grant Manager, is a requirement.
Skills in understanding database structure and ability to manipulate data imports and exports for financial reporting is required.
