The payroll administrator directs all payroll activities and functions school-wide to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. This includes, but is not limited to, administrative duties involving the development and maintenance of payroll systems, internal controls and records, and the day-to-day payroll processing operations and related accounting entries using a payroll processing company and accounting software.
Role and Responsibilities
Coordinate the day-to-day functions of the payroll and benefit functions assuring timely and accurate payroll policies and procedures are followed according to business office procedures.
Supervise the process of payroll for all W-2 employees and 1099 independent contractors and makes all associated entries and adjustments.
Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of validation procedures to check the accuracy of each bi-weekly payroll.
Responsible for the workers compensation audit.
Perform routine and non-routine data retrieval, research, analysis, and reporting from payroll records as requested.
Assist HR during open enrollment, new hire season, and summer program new hires.
Responsible for year-end accrual posting.
Preparation of necessary audit documentation.
Assist the Controller in carrying out the goals and objectives of the Business Office.
Perform other duties as required to assure the smooth operation of the payroll and benefits process.
A. Education • High school Diploma or equivalent. Post high school accounting and bookkeeping class(es).
• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to payroll function. • Experience with Paycom or similar payroll process preferred. • Knowledge of Internet, Word and Excel. • Strong interpersonal communications skills • Strong organization skills. • Ability to work in team environment. • Ability to maintain payroll information with absolute confidentiality.
C. Experience • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience related to accounting and payroll procedures.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • Normal office conditions • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required
