Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager for the Department of Neurosurgery for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Administration, this position is responsible for all phases of fiscal, budget, and business planning within the Department. The Business Manager assists the Senior Director of Administration with the management of all business aspects of the clinical, educational, and research missions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Produces and manages monthly Profit and Loss statements at the department, division, program, and provider level.
Updates monthly summary reports to track faculty productivity, per diem and on-call expenses, clinical trials invoicing/collections and clinical contract payments.
Drafts business plans, financial analysis and other ad hoc reports as needed.
Acts as liaison between the Research Support Team and the Department to ensure accurate salary allocations and research grant budgets will be met.
Prepares and monitors budget, financial plans, individual grants, and clinical contracts. Formulates, forecasts, and projects and provides analysis concerning the financial status of the Department. Supervises the analysis of statistical, financial operating reports to determine issues and make recommendations.
Provides consultative direction to administrative staff pertaining to fiscal matters. Coordinates and instructs employees involved in preparation of financial statements and other fiscal reports ensuring fiscal responsibilities are fulfilled.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus four (4) years of experience in budget preparation, administration and control, preferably at a medical center or an institution of higher education.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
At least two (2) years of experience at the supervisory/managerial level.
Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare or Public Administration, Finance or a related field.
Experience with computer based accounting systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift or exert force up to 25 lbs.
