The human resource generalist is responsible for assisting employees with a range of employment issues, with a particular emphasis on benefits administration. Knowledgeable about basic best practices in human resources, the Generalist will assist in coordinating and implementing human resources policies, programs, procedures and services. The position has specific responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, ACA compliance, leaves of absence, workers compensation, and other policy implementation
Essential Job Functions
Provides support to employees with general questions relating to policies, benefits, LOAs, workers comp, etc.
Daily administration of all benefits plans. Help employees with questions, claims and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process.
Reports on, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases with supervisors, employees and insurance brokers.
Assists with the management of all types of leaves of absence and with the reasonable accommodation process in the case of employees with limitations.
Manages ACA process, including providing reports to external auditors
Reviews and ensures the accuracy of all benefits bills before submission for approval.
Administers COBRA with former employees for group health plans.
Coordinates and maintains employee documentation relating such as job descriptions, performance evaluations, and training.
Drafts content for HR Newsletter.
Assists in proposing, drafting and administering human resources policies and procedures as needed.
Assists with the annual employee handbook update.
Non-essential (Additional) Job Functions
Assists with recruitment tasks as needed
Helps employees with self service functions of payroll HRIS system
Assists and coordinates benefits and wellness events for all employees
Required Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum 3 years working in HR.
Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
Excellent oral communication and people skills
Strong interpersonal skills for use in problem resolution and employee guidance
Good knowledge of California employment/labor laws
Strong writing skills
Problem-solving aptitude and ability to be a self-starter
Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
HRIS systems (e.g. Paycom) experience is a plus
Successful TB assessment and clearance of State and FBI livescan fingerprint check
