The Business Manager – Recreational Sports is responsible for procurement and management of the general ledger and subsidiary accounting ledgers relating to Member Services, Community Programs, Communications and Marketing, Programs, and Fitness Areas of the Department of Recreational Sports with annual operating budget of $5M; serves as general systems administrator and manager of subsidiary accounting ledgers; serves as a departmental payment application administrator; supervises Fiscal Officer and student staff associated with membership billing; prepares journal entries for Student Life fiscal support staff and other university actions documents; reviews, audits and approves procurement transactions; ensures all business-related policies and procedures of university and Student Life are fully implemented; ensures compliance with unit, Student Life, University, State and Federal fiscally-related laws, guidelines, rules, internal controls, policies, and procedures; generates financial reports and tracks/communicates fiscal status to unit; ensures fiscal resource management staff maintain appropriate files and documentation retention schedules; assists and reviews financial reconciliations; participates in professional organizations, provides oversight for administrative and operational processes; perform financial analysis for decision making; create pro formas; reviews and approves transactions and provides approved transactions to appropriate Student Life fiscal support staff for entry; assists and trains staff; analyzes data and provides financial summary reports for all associated general ledger accounts to account managers and Associate Director of Business Services for internal and external purposes to aid in reaching the mission, vision and goals of the business unit and department as a whole.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of accounting principles and applications; experience with organizational budgets, accounting systems, reporting, and analysis; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the Web.
MBA preferred; 1-3 years of business management experience, including supervisory experience; good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of PeopleSoft reporting.
Target Salary: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually
