Charles Wright Academy is an independent coeducational day school offering a broad curriculum in the liberal arts. Founded in 1957, the school enrolls 680 students in grades junior kindergarten through twelve. We are located in a suburban neighborhood southwest of Tacoma, approximately one mile from Puget Sound and within the shadow of Mt. Rainier.

The Director of Advancement is responsible for all fundraising, admissions, communications and marketing for CWA. He/she reports directly to the Head of School and works with him and the board members responsible for oversight of these areas. The Director partners with other school senior administrators to help the school run cohesively and joyfully for all members of the community, both internally and externally.
Supervise all development programs including endowment, annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts, the Parent Association, and alumni/alumni-family programs. Ensure and oversee an efficient, outgoing, and energetic development office operation.
Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Community Outreach
Supervise all marketing and communications programs, ensuring that all possible friends of the school (trustees, parents – both past and present – alumni, community leaders, grandparents, retired faculty/staff, and the community at large) are kept informed through appropriate communications including newsletters, web, social media, etc., Oversee the marketing of the school to prospective families, as well as peer schools and institutions. Supervise all matters involving publicity and public relations, keeping the public informed of the school’s accomplishments.
Admissions & Financial Aid
Oversee all admissions programs from demand creation to point of inquiry and on through enrollment. This effort includes the public face of the school to all prospective and returning families. Ensure the timely reporting of all admission, enrollment, financial aid, and attrition statistics. Interpret statistics for use in budgeting, admission forecasting, long-range planning, and various state and independent school reports. Oversee the financial aid program on behalf of the senior leadership.
Serve on the senior leadership team
Be an assertive ambassador for the school both internally and externally
Serve as staff on board committees including Advancement, Committee on Trustees and relevant Ad Hoc committees as necessary
Construct and manage the yearly budgets related to each area

Bachelor’s degree and strong experience in fund raising, marketing/communications, and/or admissions
Must have a proven capacity to manage a diverse group of people as well as numerous processes and details
