The Hun School of Princeton seeks an experienced and highly engaged Staff Accountant to join our Business Office team. The Staff Accountant has the primary responsibility for all cash receipts outside of billing and preparation of monthly entries and reporting related to the close.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Reconcile monthly GL accounts to trial balance ensuring proper entries were posted;
Preparing monthly close entries;
Maintain Sales Tax Log;
Daily/Monthly bank reconciliations for various accounts;
Apply miscellaneous cash receipts daily;
Oversee and reconcile petty cash and student allowances;
Daily scan of deposits to bank;
Organize receipts and charge codes for monthly Amex/Visa Cards;
Work with Development office to maintain reconciliation of Raiser Edge with Financial Edge;
Cross training for other areas in the department;
Greet Students, Parents, and Faculty who come to the Business Office for assistance;
Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
Minimum of a BA degree in Business or Accounting preferred;
Ten years or more of previous accounting experience;
Requires advanced knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles;
Prior experience with Raiser Edge or Financial Edge software a plus;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills;
Ability to understand and deal effectively with students, faculty, parents and staff;
Ability to act quickly, efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, busy and highly trafficked office;
Self-motivation, wisdom, perspective, confidence and excellent problem-solving skills;
A collaborative, trust-based work style;
Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness;
Must pass State of New Jersey Criminal Background check and Credit Report screening.

This position is full-time, twelve (12) months per year, non-exempt, and eligible for all benefits afforded to full-time Hun School employees. The working environment is an office and school environment on a hilly 45-acre campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The abilities to occasionally lift files and storage boxes, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment are required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators. All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a full criminal history background check.
