McDonogh School is seeking an energetic, intellectual, joyful, and caring individual to fill the role of full-time Director of Equity and Inclusion beginning in July 2017.
School Mission Statement
McDonogh School is a community that finds joy in work, in play, and in the discovery and realization of personal potential. Strong, mutually respectful relationships among and between students and teachers inspire a passion for learning, a dedication to personal integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Embracing diversity of background, culture, and thought, the school builds upon its founder's original mission to provide a life-altering opportunity to develop in its students the will "to do the greatest possible amount of good."
McDonogh is an independent coeducational, PreK-12 school serving 1370 students. The School was founded in 1873 and is located on a beautiful 800 acre campus outside of Baltimore Maryland. The hallmark of the school is the relationships that the teachers build with their students. McDonogh is a school that believes that an engaged learning environment inspires passion and unleashes the full potential of every student. For more information, read our Academic Strategic Plan: LifeReady.
The Director of Equity and Inclusion will act as a resource, strategic planner and guide in ensuring that McDonogh continues to be a welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and joyful community in which all students, staff, and teachers can thrive. The Director will report to the Head of School and work collaboratively within the senior administrative team. The Director will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that support, opportunities for engagement, professional development, leadership programming, and resources are available and easily accessed.
McDonogh’s Strategic Plan for Equity and Inclusion, launched in the spring of 2017, will provide a strategic framework through which the Director can build on the school’s infrastructure for meaningful inclusion of all its community members. The Director will have the opportunity to teach, coach, and/or advise. We expect that the Director’s role will evolve as the school continues to develop in its work.
