| Posting Summary: The Virginia Film Festival (VFF) seeks a Business Manager & Outreach Coordinator to manage the VFF year-round operations and fiscal needs and to oversee the planning and implementation of the VFF's outreach programs. With guidance, this position will help to create budgets and purchasing plans; develop new outreach programs and strategize on improving and growing existing programs; draft sponsorship levels, proposals, agreements, invoices; etc. Once budgets have been developed, this position works independently to process payments, adjustments, transfers, reconcile accounts, as well as procure services and other needs. This position will process all HR paperwork to hire temporary staff without oversight. Once initiatives and programs have been approved, this position will implement and manage outreach programs fully, while supervising the student interns and volunteers that support these programs. |
The Business Manager & Outreach Coordinator reports to the Managing Director.
Bachelor's Degree in Arts Administration, Film, Media, Business, Communications, or related fields, or some equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, along with demonstrated experience in financial administration, special event planning, and customer service, as well as a passion for film and the arts.
Required Minimum Level of Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: High school diploma with at least six years of experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
Preferred Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Specific Degree/Training: Bachelor's Degree in Arts Administration, Film, Media, Business, Communications, or related fields, or some equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: - Experience in coordinating and/or organizing arts, entertainment, or other special events, programs, screenings, etc.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
- Experience purchasing supplies and services as well as monitoring budgets.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Preferred Specific Experience: -Significant experience working in an arts organization, preferably involving film and/or with an arts festival.
-Experience writing and editing promotional materials and/or grant applications.
-Experience recruiting, managing, and training volunteers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Organization skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills are essential.
-Must have demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure.
-Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in writing and communicating through a wide variety of mediums.
-Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Current working knowledge of the film industry and the technical requirements for film screenings.
-Basic graphic and web design skills.
- Working knowledge of University of Virginia's Procurement and Purchasing policies and procedures and/or experience in financial processing and procurement.
