Darrow School seeks a creative World Languages Department Chair who demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching Spanish, is energetic, has an appreciation for individual and cultural differences, an enjoyment in working with young people. Candidates should have a degree in Spanish or related field, at least five years of secondary school teaching experience, and must be comfortable teaching all levels of Spanish. This person will oversee a small department of two-three other teachers, oversee curriculum development, be responsible for the department budget, and be a member of the Academic Program Team. Will teach 3-4 courses and participate in the work of the Academic Program Team.

Being part of the faculty at a boarding school is different from teaching anywhere else. It is a way of life more than it is a job. The academic program includes traditional core curriculum as well as a large variety of elective courses. In addition to creating learning environments in the classroom, other responsibilities include spending time with students in the dorms, coaching and/or leading extra-curricular activities, advising and weekend responsibilities.
