Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager I for the Office of Information Technology. The Business Manager I provides financial and budgeting support to OIT leadership by coordinating analyses, planning, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports to facilitate decision-making and enhance OIT's performance.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Utilizes understanding of business processes, technical capabilities and financial analysis to ensure that OIT's operational goals, objectives and strategies are met
Designs, implements and manages processes and controls to ensure accuracy and the thoroughness of financial data, and to improve the efficiency of data gathering for reporting, forecasting and analytics.
Ensures that financial and management systems are accurately maintained.
Directs the preparation of regular and special financial reports to interpret financial directives and to establish policies for carrying out directives.
Manages the financial operations for OIT, including financial approvals, journal entries, billing, and budget support.
Develops oversight practices and procedures for consistent and accurate recharge center reporting.
Oversees OIT billing activities for accuracy and timeliness. Review and approve expenditures of departments to ensure compliance with budget.
Manages the reconciliation of staffing headcounts on a periodic basis to ensure that payroll and headcount reporting is accurate.
Works with departmental teams to prepare and maintain reporting, forecasting and analysis of OIT's financial performance.
Consults with unit heads to ensure that adjustments are made in accordance with program changes in order to facilitate long-term planning.
Manages the analyses of operating programs to analyze costs in relation to services performed during previous fiscal years and submit reports to the Director with recommendations for revisions.
Manages and provides work direction to staff under supervision in the performance of their duties and assignments
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in the management of fiscal activities and financial analysis preferably in higher education.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Strong attention to detail and ability to think logically and rationally.
Master's degree in related field of study.
Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in using and understanding the Rutgers Cornerstone administrative systems including SciQuest/Marketplace, Oracle Cloud Financial Management, Expense Management, Hyperion Budget Forecast and Planning, PeopleSoft Management, ROCs, RAPPS, Discoverer Viewer, and others is highly preferred, as is experience working with grants and familiarity with the Rutgers new Chart of Accounts (COA).
Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices in an academic research setting.
Advanced competency with Excel is preferred, as are other computing skills such as working in databases and with spreadsheets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Incumbent must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel, with experience in using Tableau preferred.

Visual acuity to perform activities, such as: viewing a computer terminal, reading, analyzing written information/data, etc.
