The Senior Business Manager is responsible for facilitating the administrative operations for the Global Affairs and International Studies (GAIS) portfolio such that they align with the portfolio responsibility for supporting the university's global strategy. The incumbent manages the flow of resources including facilitating financial and human resource transactions, budgeting for the portfolio and managing the collection and storage of data and information relevant to the portfolio. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation of documents, spreadsheets and reports that form the knowledge base of the operation for improving operational and strategic decision-making including financial modeling. 1. Creating and maintaining GAIS budget: Lead GAIS departments in the development and submission of their annual budgets as well as their actual performance to budget throughout the year including compiling data and providing analyses to assist the departments with understanding and maintaining their budgets. Provide additional analytic tools to departments with regard to staffing, carry forward, and/or data needed to support key components of budget assessments or allocations. Provides analysis of GAIS operations including costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to project future costs and revenues. This will include non-financial data. 2. Serve as key point of contact for GAIS business operations and related issues: Provide supervision for accounting specialist and oversight for staff and students who provide transaction support for each of the units. Manage journal entries and budget modifications for GAIS portfolio. Ensure facilitation of transaction processing within each unit through either team members or direct processing. Liaise with HR, finance and budget officers in central administration and in other departments and colleges to align GAIS budget objectives and actions with that of the university. Provide follow up with university financial/budget and HR offices for GAIS regarding continued improvement of transaction and HR, finance, budget coordination and problem solving. 3. Support GAIS leadership with project-specific work associated with budgets, human resources, academic data and other relevant activities and the preparation of ad hoc and standard reports for operational and strategic decision-making. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field of study with a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
