The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a Business Manager to support the management of scholarship awards, coordinate various personnel administrative activities for the college, and to manage specific financial functions. This position will have a shared reporting line to the Business Officer and Sr. Human Resources Manager as well as a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs for the administration and management of scholarship activities. The college awards nearly $4 million per year in scholarships, distributed from hundreds of funds with varying restrictions, income streams, and balances. The Business Manager will need to effectively manage their varied duties. The scholarship management function will have seasonal periods that require more concentrated time during the academic year.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Oversee scholarship awards and budgets
Identify student awards that match unique scholarship requirements
Forecast current and future scholarship funding needs
Apply and track scholarship usage
Assist with numerous key recruitment and admission correspondences such as communicating aggregate scholarship awards for admitted new students
Communicate regularly with undergraduate admissions and recruiting team, regarding scholarship plans
Provide support for other student funding needs
Monitor the financial status of scholarship programs and other budget allocations
Perform related duties based on departmental need
Personnel Administration and Fiscal Activities:
Responsible for bi-weekly timekeeping, salary time commitment, and time off from work processing; coordinate payroll processing for all organizational units within the college
Acts as Personnel Change Request (PCR) initiator for organizational unit for various tasks such as leaves of absences, payroll, hiring, etc.
Ensure compliance with FLSA regulations, monitor tracking of overtime, analyze and make recommendations on changes; assist in the development of HR policies and procedures
Administer Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) processing and tracking; ensure compliance with University policies and procedures as well as federal regulations.
Serve as a back up to Sr. HR Manager in relation to filling job postings and vacancies, recruitment, and selection process
Manage and facilitate contract processing for the college through Office of General Counsel
Analyze various personnel administration data for quality improvement recommendations. Assist with implementing policies to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
Oversee and process for purchase orders, personal services contracts and temporary payroll agencies for the college
Responsible for tracking and processing relocation for incoming faculty; coordinate and monitor fiscal administrative duties; assist with budget clean up initiatives
Perform related duties based on departmental need
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of experience; - OR- Associate's degree and five (5) years of experience; -OR- seven (7) years of experience. Degree must be in Business Administration or related field. Financial and administrative experience is required and must include one (1) year of supervision.
Skill Level: Requires basic knowledge of business area, including standard financial principles and terminology, theories and practices; duties are of minimal to moderate complexity and require some degree of fiscal, problem solving, training, and team coordination responsibilities, and have some degree of responsibility for interpretation and communication of information, ideas, and instructions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced position
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Experience with UC systems (Catalyst, CART and SAP)
Strong Excel skills

Prior college/university experience a plus
