Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager I (Clinical Research Finance Manager) for Finance Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Business Manager I (Clinical Research Finance Manager) is to take lead in shaping the information management strategies and techniques related to clinical research at the cancer center. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains in-depth understanding of the business drivers and organizational strategic directions pertaining to clinical research at CINJ.
Responsible for offering innovative solutions to streamline processes involving management of clinical trials performance management for Finance and business tools.
Works closely with other departments to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations, streamline workflows, and improve processes to improve efficiency while maintaining an atmosphere that fosters the research mission of the organization.
Leads the Clinical Trial Section under the direction of the Associate Director in Finance Restricted Funds division.
Provides supervision of day-to-day clinical research finance operations for CINJ.
Oversees the thorough review of complex research trials and other research documentation for budgeting and billing according to federal regulatory and institutional requirements.
Provides support and guidance consistent with staff needs as indicated by written evaluation and consultation with management providers.
Implements billing processes that are patient centered and meet/exceed needs.
Regularly plans, schedules and attends in-service meetings and other training events that will enhance/maintain clinical research coordination and billing compliance.
Performs regular internal audits of clinical research billing and related practices.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a Finance, Accounting, Business or related field required.
Five (5) years of related experience in a Basic research/Clinical Research environment within a healthcare or academic organization required.
Two (2) years of experience in personnel supervision and ability to supervise in a unionized environment.
Experience managing a large portfolio of industry-sponsored and non-industry sponsored clinical trials.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient with state and federal policies that would impact research and grant financial activities.
Strong knowledge of clinical research, including Medicare coverage analyses and clinical trials budgeting and federal guidelines/regulations pertaining to clinical research.
The ideal candidate will have accounting skills, be detail oriented, have excellent organizational skills, be proficient in computer applications at an advanced level (Word, Excel, Oncore™), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to maximize resources and be resourceful.
Master's Degree in nursing, business administration, or healthcare administration highly desired.
Experience at a non-profit and/or higher education medical center is preferred.
Experience with OnCore® CRMS preferred.
Bilingual skills preferred.
