Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School invites applications for a full time Director of Finance in the Finance Department. Located in Washington, DC and founded in 1799, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School educates young women in grades 9 – 12 in a faith-centered community focused on educational excellence and rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition.
The Director of Finance is responsible for providing hands-on management of the accounting operations including, student billing, accounts payable, cash receipts and general ledger. Insures the integrity, timeliness, accuracy and adequacy of all accounting operations. Includes working closely with the Director of Human Resources on all payroll and benefits administration and general ledger postings.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Actively supports the mission and charism of the School; demonstrates an understanding of and enthusiasm for secondary education, for girls’ education, and for Catholic education.
Manages and coordinates the activities of the Business Office staff in the areas of inter-fund accounts, student billing, cash receipts and general ledger.
Coordinates with the Development Office on all monthly postings and reconciliations.
Reviews all monthly account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
Reviews monthly departmental statements and works with Department managers on major variances.
Prepares monthly variance report.
Prepares, reviews and finalizes draft financial statements for review by CFO.
Manages the annual audit.
Manages integrity and accuracy of the financial reporting system.
Assists in annual budget preparation.
Manages, maintains and reconciles the integration of Raiser’s Edge with Intacct.
Manages, maintains and reconciles the integration of Veracross, FACTS and MKS with Intacct.
Interprets and applies financial policies of Georgetown Visitation.
Maintains Accounting Policy Manual.
Manages Business Office personnel (Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts & Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger positions) including work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluations.
Collaborates with the Business Manager of the Monastery to support billing and general ledger functions.
Participates in ad-hoc teams as appropriate.
Performs other duties assigned.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with a minimum of ten years hands-on management experience in increasingly responsible positions with a good record in supervisory responsibilities. A CPA or MBA is also required. Must have demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in financial operations including planning and budgeting, automated financial information systems, financial reporting and analysis. Must have a good working knowledge of major accounting software packages – preferably Intacct and Bill.com. Extremely effective communication skills with all levels of staff; must have excellent skills in communicating clearly and effectively via phone as well as in person. Attention to detail, follow-through ability, flexibility and dependability are a must, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. A working knowledge of Payroll Network payroll and Google Docs is preferable and proficiency in MS Office - especially Excel - is required.
Physical requirements of this position include the ability to talk; hear; finger; grasp; sit for extended periods of time; and repetitive motion. Visual Acuity is Level 1 – minimum for those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting and extensive reading. Sedentary work - possibly exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry or otherwise move objects. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to move around campus and into several non-ADA compliant buildings.
